Why ServSafe Certification?

In Indiana, every food service business must have a Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) on staff. The person in charge is responsible for ensuring safe food handling and must demonstrate their knowledge by passing an exam from an accredited program. ServSafe® Manager training and the ServSafe® Food Protection Manager Certification Exam meet this requirement.

Because at least one certified manager is required on site during all operating hours, most establishments need more than one certified staff member to cover multiple shifts.

Timeline to comply:

  • New establishments have 6 months to obtain certification.

  • If a business has only one certified manager and that employee leaves, the establishment has 90 days to certify another.

About the exam:

  • Indiana law requires a test that meets ANSI–CFP standards.

  • While training is not mandatory, completing a course significantly improves the chances of passing the comprehensive exam on the first attempt.

REGISTER TODAY: Only 10 seats for this class.

  • You and your peer can join us for 1/2 of your day to secure a certification that will make your products safer for your customers. Lunch included!
